When George Cukor was hired in 1937 by Selznick to direct GWTW, who was he working for?...?

He was directing "Camille" in the fall of 1936 and was announced as director of GWTW at the end of September of that year. When he finished "Camille", he traveled to the East and to Europe, saw tests, commanded an expedition to the South, saw more test and auditions... In February of 1938 was in Columbia to direct "Holiday", and later at Paramount for "Zaza". In October, Cukor was in MGM for some weeks, replacing Richard Thorpe in "The Wizard of Oz" and, after his weeks in GWTW, he returned to MGM for "The Women". Very busy years for Mr. Cukor ;-)
